Before I embarked on my journey as an educator, my primary source of inspiration was Ms Patience Dumehasi, (a.k.a.Kafui nor). Kafui nor, was a teacher who influenced my early childhood education.
She was not a teacher in my school but a tenant in my grandmother’s house. Looking at how I was struggling to read as a child, she decided to help me every evening till I started picking up with my reading skills.
Even after completing my training as a teacher, I encountered numerous individuals within and outside the realm of education who left a profound impact on me, shaping the educator I am becoming.
More recently, I’ve come across #DrMaryAshun, a transformative educator and researcher, with over three decades of experience in the field, although we have never directly communicated.
I observe her from afar as one of my greatest role models in education, as we share a deep passion and dedication for this vocation. My aspiration is to emulate her in the field of education, where I witness lives being transformed and enriched.
My ultimate hope is to contribute to a world filled with educated citizens who, in turn, can positively influence others.
Today, Dr. Mary Ashun, I extend my warmest and most glorious birthday wishes to you. You are my beacon in the realm of education. Your unwavering dedication and passion, as evident from your LinkedIn profile, have profoundly influenced me. One day, I aspire to become a transformational leader, much like you—a formidable woman in education, akin to Yaa Asantewaa. Please continue to be my wellspring of motivation and inspiration, reaching beyond me to touch the lives I, too, will inspire.
Here’s to an exceptional year ahead, Dr. Mary Ashun.
